Course Details
Course Description: In this course, participants will learn creative approaches to teaching in and through the arts that support all learners. Participants will discover how to use inquiry, art making and performance techniques that promote interdisciplinary student learning and access multiple learning modalities. Inspired by works of art in the Brooklyn Museum, teachers will develop standards based lesson plans that use visual and performing arts to promote learning in the classroom and museum. Participants will improve their ability to engage students, support higher order thinking skills, and and access pathways to learning for students of all abilities. Educators who teach students with disabilities and English language learners are especially encouraged to attend. Teachers of all subject areas are welcome, and no prior experience with visual or performing art is necessary!
