Course Description: Autism is a condition that is seen frequently in today's classrooms. In this course, we explore the autism spectrum and the causes behind the various behaviors. As a result of completing this course, teachers will be able to adapt instruction in areas such as scheduling, lesson planning and instructional practices that will help students with autism learn effectively. Teachers will be able to prevent the occurrence of problem behaviors in students with autism. They will plan classroom interventions to build basic developmental and social skills in students with autism and accommodate students with autism and other sensory needs.

This online course includes text, quiz, interactive questions, videos, forum assignments and several assignments. The course equips teachers with strategies for modifying lessons to accommodate different learning needs, modifying the classroom environment, classroom management, and effective communication in students with autism.
