Did you know that the After School Professional Development Program (ASPDP) has existed since at least the 1940s?

More than eighty years later, we’re still honored to provide high-quality, low-cost courses that educators can count toward their salary differential, but our catalog design has evolved over time, and so have our guiding principles. Since you are one of our most loyal participants, we wanted to give you the chance to share feedback on our foundational beliefs, which we recently rewrote to make clear what we stand for and what you can expect to see in ASPDP courses.

The After School Professional Development Program (ASPDP) reimagines professional learning in service of equity by offering critically conscious professional learning that equips educators to confront race, power, and privilege, and to disrupt inequities in order to maximize outcomes for all students, particularly Black, Indigenous, and other students of color, students experiencing economic hardship, Students with Disabilities, Multilingual Learners, LGBTQI+, and other students who have been marginalized by systemic inequities

We’re hoping that some of this speaks to you, too, and we'd love to hear what you think. What resonates with you? What questions do you have? We'd love to hear from you! You can email us at ASPDP@schools.nyc.gov.

If you haven't registered for spring courses yet, remember that the deadline for most of our full-semester courses is Monday, April 18. Don’t miss your last chance to register for courses this spring! You can use discount code SPRINGSUNSHINE22 to receive 25% off your ASPDP fee for spring 2022 courses. The discount code cannot be applied retroactively, so make sure to enter the code before you process your transaction.

We look forward to seeing you in class, and are excited to hear your feedback on our guiding principles! We're hoping these will help set up all of our teachers for success in terms of what to expect from ASPDP, and we want to hear what you think too.
