Course Description: One of the greatest challenges today facing classroom teachers is to educate and to assist in the development of children who are knowledgeable, responsible, caring, and socially competent. This course is designed to support you in learning about the importance and effectiveness of integrating social emotional learning into classroom instruction. Throughout the course, you will learn practical ways to integrate social emotional learning strategies to increase student well-being, behavior management, and academic achievement in the classroom. These skills help to increase engagement in the classroom, as well as creating a safe environment wherein teachers can build and deliver rigorous instruction. Through the presentation of practical techniques as well as resources for accessing cutting edge ideas and tools, you will strengthen your methods for developing and maintaining a classroom that is well managed, and where students understand and utilize skills such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship management, and responsible decision making to maintain a well-managed and an academically rigorous environment.
