Course Description: This course is most useful for those starting or reviving a garden program at their school. Participants will be challenged to use problem solving and critical thinking to address issues associated with garden design and financial and community support while integrating local resources into their teaching practice. Pedagogical support will be modeled through hands-on activities throughout the course. Content will be focused on how to translate this learning into practical applications within individual school settings. A focus on food justice, food insecurity, and connections between food and identity are infused throughout the course through reflections and application in existing garden curriculum. **Please note that this course involves extensive outdoor walking throughout the Garden grounds. Due to the Garden’s naturally varied topography, some pathways may be steep, have uneven grades, or have steps. We strive to provide an inclusive, accessible workshop that enables all individuals to engage fully. To request an accommodation or for inquiries about accessibility, please contact Shannon Haas at 718-817-8140.** |
