P234-10042.1S21 - Healthy Teaching Habits for Whole-Child Wellness and More Equitable Learning Outcomes – for All Students!

Course Details
Course Description: Integrating wellness with a whole-child approach to education, and infusing it into day-to-day classroom practices and lesson plans, is not only easier than it sounds but it has been shown to have a major impact on student achievement, school climate, and educators' overall job satisfaction. That's because whole-school wellness is the foundation for not only healthy students and teachers, but for effective learning environments that nourish the body and the mind, while serving as a gateway to academic motivation and higher achievement for traditionally marginalized students. This course aims to promote, nurture and strengthen the health, well-being, cultural responsiveness and critical consciousness of the whole-school community through the introduction of fascinating new knowledge on wellness’s connection to whole-child learning and stress reduction, as well as the benefits of practicing mindfulness, self-care and compassion, inquiry-based instruction for increased engagement, and amplifying student voice – all the proven strategies for an inspirational and wholly equitable educational experience – for all learners! The course culminates with the development of a personalized, comprehensive Wellness Action Plan to use in the classroom setting. Tailored to your students’ needs, it will get results in every area you seek to improve, while transforming your approach to teaching and the way you think about wellness.
